Care Together Survey

The Care Together team are planning how to use grant funding for 2025-26.  Some residents in South Cambs have told us that transport is of concern to them and we want to see if interim measures to this concern can be included in our short-term grant funding plans.

One approach could be flexible transport, for example making available low-cost minibus / car hire or access to a minibus through a pre-booking scheme at reduced cost or no cost depending on its use.  This idea would need to be expanded upon with a group discussion if it is deemed a good initiative.

We know that work is underway to improve transportation across Cambridgeshire, so any intervention would only be short-term.

In regard to your responses we would like you to know that information is anonymously recorded.  This survey may take 5 -8 minutes to complete.  We will be closing the survey on 28 October 2024.  Please share this email widely with residents living in South Cambridgeshire.

Your view on the following questions will help us with our plans:

Poll: Can you tell us which village you live in?

Big Commuter Survey

We kindly ask for your support in sharing our 2024 Big Commuter Survey with the residents in Willingham. Smart Journeys, a project co-led by Cambridgeshire County Council (CCC), is conducting the 2024 Big Commuter Survey from Monday 14 October to Sunday 27 October. Anyone completing the survey can be entered into a prize draw.

The Big Commuter Survey aims to help Smart Journeys and CCC better understand how residents and employees across Cambridgeshire currently commute and their future travel needs. The data collected will guide improvements to the transport network, ensuring that we focus on the most effective areas for both residents and businesses. It will also provide valuable insights to support sustainable travel initiatives and influence future public transport decisions across the county.

Our goal is to make Cambridgeshire a greener, more sustainable place to live by offering safer, healthier travel options. Commuting habits have shifted in recent years, and we want to learn more about how people are now getting to and from work. This will help us plan for enhancements, such as additional walking and cycling routes.

We’re committed to achieving carbon net-zero, something we know is important to Cambridgeshire residents, as highlighted in the recent Quality of Life survey. We want to ensure every resident has a chance to contribute. Please encourage your community to take part by completing the survey, which takes about 5 minutes: https://bit.ly/bigcommuter2024. Those who provide their email will also be entered into a prize draw!

The deadline to complete the survey is 23:59 on Sunday 27 October 2024. Your help in sharing this link with your residents would be greatly appreciated, ensuring that their voices are heard in shaping the future of transport in Cambridgeshire.

Thank you for your support.

Kind regards,

On behalf of Smart Journeys and Cambridgeshire County Council

Keyless Car Thefts Warning

eCops Logo

If your car has Passive Keyless Entry and Start (PKES), it may be susceptible to the ‘Relay Attack’’ theft method.

Toyota Hilux, Jaguar Landrover in particular, Range Rover, Lexus and Mercedes are all vehicles that are being targeted by thieves.

What is a ‘Relay Attack’?
Thieves will place a device near the car and another near the key.
The device relays messages between the key and the car, allowing the vehicle to open, even if the key is physically far away. Some devices can pick up a signal from more than 100 metres.

How can you prevent this?
·  Purchase a signal blocking faraday pouch to store your keys in (including spares). Make sure the pouch is designed specifically for the keys and test it by inserting your fob into the pouch and attempting to open your vehicle.
·  Refer to your user manual to see if your keyless entry fob can be deactivated at night.
·  Check that you have a motion-sensor enabled fob, which goes to sleep when stored at home.
Anyone who believes they have been targeted, please contact us using our online reporting form or webchat, those without internet access should call 101.

If you believe a crime is in action, always call 999.
