The government is now consulting on four options to reorganise Cambridgeshire’s seven councils into fewer unitary councils. This is the government’s plan for a once in a lifetime shake up of local councils across the country which, in Cambridgeshire, would see all seven city, district and county councils reorganised into two or three new councils providing all local services – from housing and planning to social care – under one roof.
Alongside Cambridge City and East Cambridgeshire District councils, we believe option B works best for people across Cambridgeshire. Option B would replace the current seven councils with two new councils: • One for Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire • One for North Cambridgeshire and Peterborough
Option B could save £43 million a year, with savings reinvested into frontline services.

Willingham Parish Council have been advised by Cambridgeshire County Council’s Highways Team that Over Road Willingham will be closed for works between the hours of 6pm and 10pm for 5 nights from Monday 16th February.
The closure will take place between 6pm and 10pm, the road will then be open for road users but workers will be on site until 11pm.

Please find attached the Highway Events diary for February 2026. The diary shows all known events and their highway restrictions. The diary includes links to one.network where further details, such as the specific road closure timings of each traffic management plan, can be viewed.
The Traffic Management Centre (TMC) monitors the county’s road network and reports any variations to the traffic flow, we refer to these as ‘incidents’. We use the term ‘incident’ to describe something that has happened on the County’s road network which has an impact (of varying degrees) on usual traffic flows. This could include, for example, a Road Traffic Collision, a burst water main or temporary traffic lights for road works.
We are using a new web-based system to log and display these incidents in both map and report formats.
We have attached a quick user guide to show you how to view the report and map but if you have any questions or feedback on the system, please don’t hesitate to send us an email. The system is still a work in progress and we have been using it live since August 2022, so anything pre-August has been ported over from our old log which is why there might not be as much detail in the information.
The TMC responded to 124 incidents on the road network throughout Cambridgeshire in January covering 21 weekdays. This figure is lower to that of what we reported in January 2025 and higher than the previous month.

Our4 @Cambs_Traffic X account is our quickest engagement tool with the public and the interaction gives a good indication of how effective the messages are getting out to people.
Throughout January we gained 57 new followers which showed an increase to that of December’s figure. Throughout January our posts posted increased as did our post impressions, with our profile visits decreasing to that of December’s.

We are aware there is conflicting information about the upcoming road closure on Earith Road. We are currently awaiting information from County Council’s Highways team to confirm when the closure will take place and will provide an update here when we receive it.
As well as providing local transport for residents, three of the services FACT, CamDAR and the TVN are qualified to provide minibus driver awareness (MiDAS ) training see link here for more information
By offering training to other local minibus users such as community groups and schools these, Dial a Rides generate income enabling them to keep providing their services and to keep fares low.
This week, the City of London Police, the national lead force for fraud, announced the full public launch of Report Fraud, which has now officially replaced Action Fraud.
