Christmas & New Year Bin Collections and Tree Recycling

Christmas and New Year bin collections 🎄🗑️♻️

Bin collections which fall on Wednesday 25 December will take place 2 days EARLIER, on Monday 23 December.

Those falling on Thursday 26 and Friday 27 December will take place one day later than usual, with Friday’s collection moving to Saturday.

The following week, collections falling on Wednesday 1 January will take place 2 days EARLIER, on Monday 30 December.

All other collection dates remain the same as usual: December 2024 – March 2025 bin collection calendar.

Christmas tree recycling 🎄♻️

Arthur Rank Hospice Charity will again be collecting real Christmas trees to be chipped into mulch and compost in January.

They collect across CB1, CB2, CB3, CB4, CB5, CB21, CB22, CB23, CB24, CB25, SG8 and SG19 3. Bookings can be made now.

New bus timetable – 5a plus 1a

The current operator of the 1A has given notice they don’t wish to continue with the route post November 30^th. As such it has been decided to award to another operator (Stagecoach) to ensure continuity of service. Stagecoach operate the 5A currently, so for efficiency purposes the timetables will be integrated. The new timetable is attached.

The new timetable will travel in both directions between St Ives and Bar Hill, via Over and Willingham. It is mostly a 90-minute frequency that offers 10 minutes journeys to the Longstanton P&R for Willingham residents and a service through to Bar Hill.

About the consultation

We recognise just how important buses are, which is why we believe the way the region’s buses are run needs to change. We want to address the current challenges including the performance of local bus services. Now is the time for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to review how its buses are operated, to improve services for all.

We are holding a formal consultation which will inform a decision by the Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough on how to reform buses across the area. Please read the consultation document as this will give you important and useful background information.

The bus franchising consultation runs from Wednesday 14 August – Wednesday 20 November 2024. Your views matter, so please get involved and have your say.
